metaDRAMA: On Sounding Cool

Congratulations, Brick. Your Anti-Depressant Festival has successfully anti-depressed me, mainly by reminding me how many good companies there are out there. At the same time, it's also made me more aware of a potential bias on my blog, one of under-representation. The following is an attempt to address that:

Are you involved in a new, full production--as a writer, director, actor, stagehand, &c.--that you think is good? Is it running for at least a week (four performances)? If so, feel free to send me information and an invite to your show. If I am not already booked, I will come and write about it here. (Be forewarned: I will not pull punches that are squarely deserved.)

I hope that this will help widen the range of shows that I'm currently covering--the off-off-Broadway beat--so that equal weight is given both to new artists and established companies (and vice versa).

    Hey!

    Not sure if this is the place to do it but, I've got a show up and would love a review from you. I'm producing and directing Bertolt Brecht's the Elephant Calf in a Van parked on the side of the road. The show is around 20 minutes long and runs cyclically from 8-11.     Dear Aaron,


    We would like to invite you the premiere run of Grey: or What Happens When You Walk Into Your Apartment and Find Two Dead Chicks On The Floor?

    This is a brand new play written by Van Corona. Grey is the story of Mike and Jim, average broke New Yorkers, who come home to their apartment only to find two dead chicks on the floor. One of the aforementioned dead girls is their friend Amanda, while the other is the daughter of the most dangerous crime kingpin this city has ever seen. This probably won't end up too well for Mike and Jim...

    The play is a dark comedy along the lines of Martin McDonagh or Judd Apatow brought to the stage.

    It will be running from March 1st - 6th
    The Grand Theater (at the Producers Club)

    After our award winning turn two seasons ago at The Planet Connections Theater Festival, Hot Steams is opening this year in The New York International Fringe Festival. With an enormous revision and a new cast member, this has been something wild.

    About the play: In a futuristic ride through torture and imprisonment a man finds himself jailed and dressed in a Santa suit with no memory. He interrupts the solitary confinement of an accused murderer. Sanity’s at stake as they face unscrupulous law enforcement.
